Artistic Development & Private Coaching

ECPA’s Artistic Development & Private Coaching offers individualized training for every artist. Each performer has different goals—and sometimes the most meaningful growth happens with individualized support.

This program give students the opportunity to work closely with experienced teaching artists in a focused, encouraging environment. Whether a student is preparing for an audition, developing a competition piece, strengthening a particular performance skill, or planning for college auditions, coaching is tailored to meet them where they are and help them take the next step. This programming is also open to adults.

Our approach combines strong technical training with thoughtful mentorship. Students are encouraged to make bold artistic choices, build confidence, and develop the skills needed to become expressive, prepared, and independent performers.

Artistic Development

ECPA’s Artistic Development program provides personalized training for students interested in creating and refining performance material beyond the traditional classroom or rehearsal setting.

Students may work individually or in small groups to develop solos, duos, trios, and other pieces for competitions, showcases, auditions, and special performance opportunities. Coaching may include material selection, acting and song interpretation, vocal development, choreography, staging, character work, and overall performance preparation.

Each piece is developed with the individual artist in mind. Our goal is not simply to create a polished performance, but to help students better understand their strengths, take artistic risks, and build skills they can carry into future work.

Artistic Development opportunities may include:

  • Musical theatre solos, duos and trios, and small-group performance pieces

  • Competition routine development

  • Song interpretation and character work

  • Choreography and staging

  • Performance polishing and feedback

Private Coaching

Private coaching offers one-on-one support tailored to a student’s individual goals, experience, and learning style. Sessions may be scheduled as ongoing training or as focused preparation for a specific audition, performance, or project.

Private coaching opportunities may include:

  • Voice

  • Acting

  • Dance and Movement

  • Audition and Callback Preparation

College Audition Preparation

Preparing for college theatre and musical theatre programs can feel overwhelming. ECPA offers individualized guidance to help students approach the process with greater clarity, confidence, and organization.

College audition coaching may include:

  • Identifying material that reflects the student’s strengths

  • Selecting and preparing contrasting songs and monologues

  • Developing prescreen and live-audition packages, including customized choreography

  • Coaching song and monologue cuts

Because every student’s college journey is different, coaching can be customized as a single session, a series of focused sessions, or ongoing support throughout the application and audition season.

A Collaborative Approach

We believe the strongest coaching relationships are collaborative. Students are supported in developing their own artistic voice rather than being asked to imitate someone else’s performance.

Our teaching artists provide honest, constructive feedback within an environment where students feel safe to experiment, ask questions, and grow. Whenever possible, students are matched with the instructor whose experience and teaching approach best align with their goals.

Who Is Coaching For?

Artistic Development and Private Coaching are available to students with a wide range of experience levels. A student does not need to be a member of the ECPA Company to participate. Coaching is also available for adults.

Coaching may be a good fit for students who:

  • Want more individualized attention

  • Are preparing for an upcoming audition or callback

  • Need help selecting appropriate material

  • Want to develop a solo, duo, trio, or competition routine

  • Are looking to strengthen a specific performance skill

  • Want additional support alongside their regular classes or productions

  • Are preparing for college theatre or musical theatre auditions

Scheduling and Tuition

Coaching is scheduled based on student goals, instructor availability, and studio space. Rates may vary depending on the type and length of the session, the number of participating students, and whether additional preparation, choreography, editing, or materials are required.

For competition routines and other extended projects, ECPA will provide the family with the expected scope and cost before coaching begins.
